Okay holy shit that was amazing. The theme of TF:Prime appears to be ARCEE IS FUCKING AWESOME. Also jfc Cliffjumper! First episode! CLIFFJUMPER. ARCEE. Oh god I want so many fics of their camaraderie and snark.

AND THEN PETER CULLEN SPOKE AND I JIZZED IN MY PANTS

AND THEN SOUNDWAVE SHOWED UP AND I JIZZED IN MY PANTS

Okay seriously Bumblebee is not allowed to be this cute, it is fucking illegal okay, dasjfkjds SO CUTE. I hope they keep up the thing where he doesn't speak English and Soundwave doesn't speak at all. I really really like that. Also the main human character is a dumbshit and NO ONE IS SURPRISED but omg I like the girl. We can keep her. AWESOME FEMALE CHARACTERS GO GO GO ♥

Ratchet is perfect. SQUISHIES. And then he demonstrates! GODDAMN I LOVE THIS RATCHET. Everything about him is perfect and that is really all there is to say on the matter.

Starscream will grow on me. Like a fungus.

Bulkhead is exactly the same as in TFA, which is to say, ADORABLE. traffic heeeee

Megatron looks like Kain. But if he's Kain, who's Raziel? Also wow that was some heavy-handed OH NOES DARK EVIL DARKNESS going on there. I did like Starscream flipping the fuck out though.

Did I mention ARCEE IS FUCKING AWESOME?! Because she is!

I LOVE THIS SHOW. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. It is like the bastard child of Beast Wars, TFA, and War for Cybertron, and I mean that in a very good way. I am so excited for this I may bully Dad into getting cable. MAYBE. I want to give these people my money! KEEP MAKING THIS SHOW, IT IS AMAZING AND FULL OF PROMISE.

But seriously. In TFA there was one moment where I decided that this show would be worthwhile - Sari used her key on Bumblebee and his shoulder-wheels spun, rocketing him up a wall. The very fact that they had internalized the idea that this guy has wheels in his shoulders enough to write that convinced me that TFA would be good. And it was. And in this show, there is a moment in their silly little 'behind the scenes' gigglefest where Bulkhead is yelling TURN YOUR HEAD, LOOK AWAY and then he kills someone. And I sat up and said oh my god yes because this means that they've internalized the idea that these are people, this is killing, there is DEATH happening here and it is ugly and frightening. The dark undercurrents of TF that we fanficcers delve into? This series is going there. It is diving right in. And it's not just death - Arcee is blue, Arcee is kickass, Arcee is a warrior and an equal to her comrades and I described her mourning as "manly pain" because of how unfailingly determined she is. Her friend is dead but she is at war. There is some OH NOES SHE'S A GIRL there, with the slow-mo falling NOOOOOO shot and of course she's the one to pick up the damn horn, but. 99% of what I saw actually treated her as a person with history and development and not just the gratuitous girl. I think this is on purpose. And if it is? It is already the best treatment of sex/gender I have seen in this franchise.

So yes. This show. I fucking love it, I love the grand sweeping promise of it. I love the characters and themes and most of the visuals, aside from the gaping rubber gashes they call mouths. I love the thoughtfulness and gentle humor and dark touches. I love the voices and the sense that we're coming into the middle of everything. Not just their war! They were already here, they've already made contact and have a liaison and everything, they're settled in and making do and we are just coming in at the last fucking minute and inconveniencing them.

Hell. Yes.

This is awesome.

Sounds great. I suck at keeping up with shows though.
