Lexxy Fancypants

I was just thinking - what about hip-hop/rap/other genres I can't name attracted Jazz, out of all the music and culture Earth has to offer? Those are musics with a strong sense of history. Even now, rap is by and about an oppressed people, and its roots are from the songs sung by slaves in the Americas. It has a sense of history about it. I personally don't know music in other languages well enough to point to other examples of modern music with such deep roots, but I think he'd like that as well.
