I just like trees. Their voices are bright and green and they laugh like rain on thirsty leaves.

This morning I meant to wake up at 6am. But it was cold and dreary, so I set my alarm for 9 (the latest I will put off feeding the cat) and went back to sleep. I kept waking up, but that's okay. Every time I woke up, it was cool but not chilly, even under just a sheet, and I could hear the soft rain in the saplings outside my window, and Nostalgia was chilly too. She didn't curl up on my feet - she moved up by my chest, and in my sleep my body curled around hers, and every time I woke up I'd gently pet her soft fur and drift back to sleep listening to the lush, green sound of late summer rain. I pulled the sheet over her little black fuzzy orb to shield her from the breeze and she purred and licked my hand.

Today is a day for cooking. It is a day for the simple joy of hot food and freezer-stockpiles and rejoicing in having new recipes to try. It is a day to make my twin's butternut and chicken sausage soup, a day to roast garlic, a day to sweep and sing to the cat while the oven ticks happily, a day to wear thick socks and throw open the windows for no good reason. It's a day to watch G1 in the kitchen and laugh over a bowl of cookie dough being mixed with bare hands.

Unfortunately it's also a day where I dicked around until 3pm, so the amount of cooking I can do before dinner is somewhat negligible. XD But I am going to enjoy the heck out of it.
